What is Xcode Junk Simulator Runtimes?
~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator is a developer-data folder used by Xcode and Apple’s Simulator tools. It stores local Simulator devices, app data for those virtual devices, and supporting runtime content that lets macOS run simulated versions of iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS for testing. Developers encounter it when building, debugging, and resetting simulators, and it can grow very large over time because each installed runtime and virtual device keeps its own files. Removing contents from this folder can delete Simulator devices, erase test data inside those devices, or force Xcode to download platform runtimes again. For people who do not use Xcode, this folder is usually only leftover developer data from past tool installs.

This folder is associated with Apple’s CoreSimulator system used by Xcode and Simulator. Its presence is normal on Macs used for app development. The main risk is not privacy or malware, but loss of development assets: deleting it can remove Simulator devices, wipe app data inside those simulators, and break current test environments until Xcode recreates or redownloads them.
Recommendation: Keep this folder if you actively use Xcode, Simulator, or any Apple platform development workflow. If you no longer do iPhone, iPad, watch, TV, or visionOS development on this Mac, you can remove old Simulator data to recover space, but expect existing virtual devices and local simulator-only test data to be lost.
