CoreSimulator
CoreSimulator stores data for Xcode’s iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and other simulator runtimes used during app development and testing.
What is CoreSimulator?
CoreSimulator is the folder used by Apple’s developer tools to manage Simulator devices, runtime data, app installs, and related resources for testing apps without physical hardware. People usually encounter it after installing Xcode, Command Line Tools, or additional simulator runtimes, especially if they develop apps or test software for Apple platforms.
Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
This is developer-tool data rather than a core macOS system folder. Removing it can delete Simulator devices, installed test apps, logs, and downloaded runtime content, and may force Xcode to recreate or re-download components. It is generally low risk for non-developers, but it can disrupt active development and testing setups.
Recommendation: Keep it if you use Xcode, Simulator, or Apple platform development tools. If you no longer do development or testing, this folder is usually optional, but expect simulator data to be lost and some runtimes to be downloaded again later.
