Online Information & Comments helps explain an app or startup item, or whether an unfamiliar file or folder may be safe to delete. It can also show and accept comments about the item.
All diCleaner scanning and analysis runs locally. The online feature starts only when you click a supported ⓘ information button.
When data is sent
When access is set to Ask Next Time, diCleaner shows a confirmation containing the exact item details that will be sent to doinno.com.
Depending on the item, those details can include:
- file or folder path and name;
- app name and bundle identifier;
- startup-item name, identifier, and path;
- publisher or developer name.
When an item is inside your home folder, diCleaner shortens that part of the path to ~ so your macOS account name is not sent. File contents and personal account information are not included.
The confirmation lets you review the information before continuing.
Comments
If you submit a comment, its display name and text are sent to doinno.com. Comments are not published automatically and appear only after review.
Choose online access
Open diCleaner → Settings → Privacy → Online Services and use the selector under Online Information & Comments:
- Ask Next Time: show the confirmation the next time you use an information button.
- Enabled: open online information directly when you click the button.
- Disabled: hide the related information buttons and prevent access to the feature.
Use diCleaner offline
Cleanup scans, storage analysis, duplicate comparison, application inventory, and system status can work without an internet connection when the required files and permissions are available.
Online information, current update information, web content, and comment submission require a connection. A network error does not invalidate a completed local scan and is not fixed by granting broader disk permissions.
