What is Library?
/Library is a top-level macOS folder for resources shared across the whole Mac rather than a single user account. It commonly contains Application Support data, LaunchAgents, LaunchDaemons, Preferences, Caches, Extensions, Fonts, Audio components, and other files installed by macOS, Apple software, and third-party apps. People usually encounter it when troubleshooting, managing storage, uninstalling software, or following setup instructions for drivers, plugins, or background services.

This folder includes important system-wide app data and configuration files. Some contents are optional third-party files, but other contents are required for installed software, hardware support, login items, networking, audio tools, and other shared functions. Removing items here without knowing what they belong to can break apps or background features for every user on the Mac.
Recommendation: Keep /Library itself. Review individual subfolders or vendor-specific items only when you know which app or service they belong to. If you are trying to free space or remove software, focus on clearly identified third-party files rather than deleting general system-wide folders.
