What is Library Privileg?
The /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools folder is a macOS system-level location used by some apps to place privileged helper tools. These helpers can run with elevated permissions to perform tasks the main app cannot do on its own, such as installing components, managing network or security features, updating protected files, or controlling system services. People usually encounter this folder when reviewing disk usage, troubleshooting app components, or checking what software has installed privileged background helpers.

This is a legitimate macOS location, but the specific helper tools inside it may belong to third-party apps or older software. Removing files here without confirming which app installed them can break updates, networking, security features, licensing, or other background functions. Some items may still be active even if the related app is not used often.
Recommendation: Review the contents item by item and identify which installed app each helper belongs to before making changes. Keep helpers for apps you still use. If a helper appears to belong to software you fully uninstalled, remove it only as part of that app's official uninstall process or after confirming no related launch daemon or service still depends on it.
