Applications
The /Applications folder is the main place where macOS stores installed apps that are available to all users on the Mac.
What is Applications?
Applications is the standard top-level macOS folder used to hold most installed apps. People commonly encounter it in Finder, Launchpad, Spotlight results, and when installing or dragging app bundles into place. It typically contains user-installed software as well as some Apple-provided apps, depending on macOS version and how the Mac was set up.

The folder itself is an important standard location on macOS. Removing individual apps from it can uninstall those apps, but deleting the folder or Apple-provided apps can cause problems or make software unavailable. Some apps also store related data elsewhere in your Library folders, so removing an app bundle may not remove all settings or documents.
Recommendation: Keep the /Applications folder. Review individual apps inside it instead of treating the whole folder as removable. If you no longer use a non-system app, remove that specific app carefully and check whether it has related support files elsewhere.
