What is Music?
~/Music is a user folder in macOS that stores music-related content for your account. Deleting items from ~/Music can remove songs, playlists, library files, recordings, or exported audio that your apps rely on. If you want to free space, review the contents first and remove only music or media you no longer need. Make sure anything important is backed up before deleting large folders or library files.
Recommendation: Keep ~/Music if you use Apple Music, keep local audio files, or save recordings and media projects on your Mac. If you are cleaning up storage, open the folder and remove only unneeded albums, recordings, or old exports instead of deleting the entire folder. If you plan to move a music library, back it up first so your media and library organization are not lost.
