Library
The ~/Library folder stores per-user app data, settings, caches, and support files that many Mac apps and features rely on.
What is Library?
~/Library is your user Library folder on macOS. It contains data used by apps and user-level system features, including preferences, caches, application support files, containers, logs, saved state, and other account-specific resources. People usually encounter it when troubleshooting apps, freeing disk space, migrating data, or following app support instructions.

This folder is a normal and important part of macOS. Many items inside are safe to keep, and some can be recreated, but others may contain app data, account settings, local databases, downloads, mail, messages, backups, or files needed for apps to work correctly. Removing the wrong contents can cause data loss, sign-outs, reset preferences, or broken app behavior.
Recommendation: Keep ~/Library as a whole. Do not delete the entire folder. If you are trying to clean up space or remove leftovers, review specific subfolders and app-specific items first, especially Caches versus Application Support, Containers, Mail, Messages, and preferences. Remove only items you can clearly link to apps you no longer use and only after confirming they are not needed.
