Mobile Documents
The ~/Library/Mobile Documents folder stores iCloud Drive and app document sync data used by macOS and many Apple apps.
What is Mobile Documents?
Mobile Documents is a user Library folder used by iCloud Drive and app-specific iCloud document storage on macOS. Apps and Apple services use it to keep documents available across devices, sync changes, and store cloud-backed files for features such as Desktop & Documents syncing and app document containers.

Safety overview
Status: Use with caution
This folder often contains live iCloud-synced documents and app data, not just temporary files. Removing content can delete local copies, interrupt syncing, or cause data loss across devices if the files are also removed from iCloud.
Recommendation: Keep this folder unless you are specifically troubleshooting iCloud Drive or removing unneeded files from inside known app subfolders after confirming they are safely backed up elsewhere. Review contents carefully rather than deleting the whole folder.
