Mobile Sync Application Support
~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync stores local iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backup data created by Finder or earlier iTunes syncing on Mac.
What is Mobile Sync Application Support?
MobileSync is the macOS support folder used for local backups of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. On current versions of macOS, Finder uses this location when you back up an Apple mobile device to your Mac, and older setups may also contain data created by iTunes. Users usually encounter this folder when storage is running low or when they want to move, archive, or remove old device backups. The most important content is typically inside the Backup subfolder, which can grow large over time because it stores full device backup data. This is not a general cache folder: it is part of Apple device backup and sync workflows on Mac.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
This folder can contain complete local backups of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, so deleting its contents may remove your ability to restore a device from that backup later. That effect is normal for this folder’s purpose. If you still use local device backups, keep the backups you may need and remove only older ones you no longer want. Because backup data may include personal information from your devices, handle copies carefully if you move or archive them.
Recommendation: Keep MobileSync if you rely on local backups or want a restore point for your Apple mobile devices. If you use iCloud backups instead, or you no longer need older Finder or iTunes backups, you can remove unneeded backup data to recover space. When possible, manage old backups from Finder first so you do not delete a backup you still plan to use.
