Google Application Support

~/Library/Application Support/Google stores application support data used by Google software on your Mac, including browser profiles, settings, and local app data.

What is Google Application Support?

This folder contains application support data created by Google software on macOS. Users most often encounter it because Google Chrome stores its user data inside this location, including profile information and other local app files used to run normally. Other Google apps or components may also create subfolders here for their own support data. This is not a system folder you should clean routinely just to save space, because removing it can reset app data, sign you out, remove local preferences, and affect offline or synced content until the app rebuilds its files. If you still use Google apps on your Mac, this folder is part of their normal operation. If you no longer use those apps, leftover subfolders here may be removable after you confirm they are no longer needed.

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

This folder is normally safe and is used by legitimate Google apps to store local support data. Deleting it will not improve macOS itself, but it can reset Google app settings, remove local browser profiles, clear sign-in state, and delete offline data stored by those apps. If you use Google Chrome, removing its data here can affect bookmarks or history that are not fully synced. Back up anything important before deleting subfolders.

Recommendation: Keep this folder if you actively use Google apps, especially Google Chrome. Remove only the specific Google subfolders you no longer need, or delete the whole folder after uninstalling all related Google apps and confirming you do not need the local data anymore.
