Back up the Mac and confirm the backup before a major update.

If more space is needed, begin with personal downloads, obsolete installers, large files you understand, and applications you can reinstall.

Do not remove:

  • Update data while Software Update is downloading or preparing.
  • Current logs needed to diagnose a failed update.
  • Recovery data.
  • Unknown system or Library folders.
  • The only copy of personal files.

Finish cleanup, restart the Mac, verify available storage, and then begin the update.

Do not run diCleaner removal operations while the update is installing or waiting for a restart.
