The Cleanup area finds files that may be reclaimable, including app caches, temporary files, logs, trash, mail attachments, and software-update residue.
Run and review a scan
- Open Cleanup.
- Start the scan and wait for all selected locations to finish.
- Expand each category to review its files.
- Deselect anything you want to keep.
- Choose Clean and approve the confirmation.
What the main categories mean
- Junk Files includes recognized caches, temporary data, and other regenerable files.
- Trash can include user Trash and protected System Trash locations.
- Mail Attachments are local copies of attachments. Removing them does not normally remove the original message, but the attachment may need to be downloaded again.
- System Update Cache includes downloaded update files, App Store caches, logs, and update residue.
- Purgeable space is storage macOS can reclaim when required. It is not the same as immediately free space.
If the scan looks incomplete
Check whether diCleaner is waiting for Home folder access or Full Disk Access. Protected browser profiles, system logs, and other macOS-managed locations may not be visible without the relevant permission.
After cleaning
Some apps recreate caches the next time they open. This is normal. If an app behaves unexpectedly, restart it or your Mac before scanning again.
