Duplicate copies can produce confusing update, permission, startup, and uninstall results.
Use Finder or the application inventory to locate copies in Applications, user Applications, Downloads, backups, external disks, and mounted installers.
Open the active copy and check its path and version. Preserve documents and plug-in compatibility before removing an older version.
Quit all copies and their helpers. Remove only the verified obsolete bundle, then run a new inventory.
Do not delete an archive or backup copy simply because it shares the same name. Decide whether it is part of your recovery strategy.
