What is VNAmate?

VNAmate is a Mac utility for working with vector network analyzer measurements. It helps radio amateurs and RF users view measurement data from supported VNA hardware or import S1P and S2P Touchstone files for analysis. The app presents results in several formats, including tables, Smith charts, and graphs for values such as SWR, gain, and phase, which makes it useful for antenna tuning and general RF evaluation. VNAmate also exports measured or processed data to common formats including CSV, S1P, S2P, and PDF. A built-in matching-network calculator supports L, Pi, and T configurations for practical impedance-matching work. The app is published by Dl2rum for macOS.

Key features

  • Import S1P and S2P Touchstone measurement files
  • Read measurement data directly from supported VNA devices
  • View results as tables, Smith charts, and graphs
  • Analyze SWR, S21 gain, and phase data visually
  • Export data to CSV, S1P, and S2P formats
  • Save chart output as PDF graphics
  • Calculate matching networks in L, Pi, and T configurations

Safety overview

Status: Safe

VNAmate is a specialized analysis tool for vector network analyzer data. Access to local files and connected measurement hardware is normal for its purpose. If you use it with external VNA devices, review any files you export so you keep only the measurement data you want to share.

Recommendation: Keep VNAmate if you use a NanoVNA, FA-VA, or Touchstone measurement files on your Mac. Remove it if you no longer do RF or antenna analysis and do not need its saved files or exported reports.
