Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Excel is Microsoft's spreadsheet application for creating, editing, analyzing, and sharing workbook files on your Mac.
What is Microsoft Excel?
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet and data analysis application included with Microsoft 365 and also available as a standalone Microsoft Office app. People use it to create worksheets, perform calculations, build charts, analyze data, manage lists, and open or edit .xlsx, .xls, and CSV files. On a Mac, users typically encounter it as a standard application in the Applications folder, along with Microsoft support files, preferences, caches, and sandbox container data.
Safety overview
Status: Safe
Excel is a legitimate Microsoft application. It is generally safe to keep installed, but workbooks, templates, autosaved files, and local app data may contain important user documents or unsaved work.
Recommendation: Keep if you use Microsoft Excel or need to open spreadsheet files. If you no longer use it, removal is usually optional, but review related documents, autosave data, and Microsoft Office support files before deleting anything.
