GoLand
GoLand is a native macOS integrated development environment for writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining Go applications.
What is GoLand?
GoLand is an integrated development environment for Go development on macOS and other desktop platforms. It helps developers write, navigate, run, test, and debug Go code in one workspace, making it useful for backend services, command-line tools, cloud software, and general application development. The app includes code intelligence features such as smart completion, refactoring tools, navigation across projects, and built-in debugging support that can speed up everyday programming tasks. It also supports working with version control, terminal sessions, databases, and related web technologies from the same interface, which is helpful for full development workflows. GoLand is published by JetBrains s.r.o. and is commonly used by professional developers, students, and teams building software in Go. On macOS, users typically install it as a standard desktop app and may also use the accompanying command-line launcher for opening projects from Terminal.
Key features
- Write and edit Go code with smart completion and on-the-fly analysis
- Run, test, and debug Go applications from one workspace
- Refactor code and navigate quickly across files, symbols, and project structure
- Work with Git and other version control tools inside the IDE
- Use an integrated terminal for command-line development tasks
- Connect to databases and inspect SQL alongside application code

Safety overview
Status: Safe
GoLand is legitimate development software. It normally needs access to the projects you open and may store IDE settings, indexes, plugins, logs, and caches to support coding, search, and debugging features. Network access is also normal for license activation, updates, plugin downloads, and JetBrains account features. As with any IDE, only open projects and install plugins you trust, especially when working with source code from unknown origins.
Recommendation: Keep GoLand if you actively develop or review Go projects, or if you rely on JetBrains project settings and plugins. If you no longer use it, you can remove the app and later clean up its support files and caches to free disk space. Removing it will not delete your code projects unless you manually remove those project folders too.
