Camera scanning works best when the page has visible edges and contrasts with the surface below it. Lighting and camera position matter more than the type of document.

Steps

  1. Open Scan.
  2. Hold the device parallel to the page.
  3. Keep fingers, shadows, and nearby papers outside the detected boundary.
  4. Capture the page and adjust the corners if the detected crop is inaccurate.
  5. Repeat for additional pages, then finish and save the document.

Before you finish

  • Automatic edge detection is an aid, not a guarantee. Always inspect receipts, folded pages, and documents on patterned backgrounds.
  • A slightly wider crop is safer than cutting through text or a signature.
  • For a multi-page document, keep page orientation consistent while capturing.

Tips

  • Use indirect light to reduce glare on glossy paper.
  • Clean the camera lens if text looks hazy in every capture.
