Text extraction uses text recognition on the selected PDF page. When recognition succeeds, diScanner copies the result to the system clipboard and shows Copied — Text has been copied to the clipboard. Accuracy depends on focus, contrast, language, layout, and handwriting.
Steps
- Open the PDF from Documents.
- Tap the page whose text you need.
- Tap the green text viewfinder button shown on the selected page.
- Wait for either Copied or No Text Extracted.
- After a successful result, paste the text into Notes or the intended destination.
- Compare names, amounts, dates, and reference numbers against the page before relying on them.
Before you finish
- Recognition can confuse similar characters, columns, decorative fonts, and faint print.
- Extracting text does not alter the PDF page.
- Clipboard contents may be accessible to apps you intentionally paste into, so avoid leaving sensitive text copied longer than necessary.
- The text-document button in the top toolbar is a different action: it prepares recognized text from the complete PDF as a shareable text file.
Tips
- For better results, rotate the page upright first.
- Treat extracted text as a draft that requires proofreading.
- If diScanner reports No Text Extracted, rescan the page with better focus, straighter alignment, and stronger contrast.
