Use a cover annotation when you need to hide part of a page before sharing it. Saving the edited page requires Pro.

Cover and export

  1. Select the page and open Edit.
  2. Choose the cover tool. Use a fully opaque solid cover for sensitive content, or mosaic when its appearance is appropriate.
  3. Draw over the whole area you want to hide. Check the edges at a readable zoom level.
  4. Tap Done to save your edits.
  5. Open share and choose Export PDF (merged annotations).
  6. Open that exported copy and check the covered area before sending it.

Why the export choice matters

In a merged export, pages containing diScanner’s privacy covers are turned into page images. Their original text and images are not kept underneath as separate selectable PDF content. Other pages can retain selectable text.

In an editable export, the cover can be moved or deleted and the underlying content remains. The editable source in diScanner also remains available for editing.

Mosaic has limits

Mosaic changes what the page looks like, but large letters, short numbers, or recognizable shapes may still be guessed from what is visible. A solid opaque cover is the better choice when the information must not be readable.

Do not treat TXT export or copied text as a checked, covered version of the document. Review those outputs separately, and check filenames and uncovered areas too.
