A folder can appear empty because contents are hidden, inaccessible, online only, filtered, or temporarily absent.
Applications can also require an empty directory as a workspace, mount point, export destination, or expected structure.
Open it in Finder, check permissions and cloud state, and identify the owning app. Do not remove empty folders inside app bundles, libraries, system locations, backups, or active projects.
