Screenshots are easy to create and difficult to classify automatically. They can be temporary, but also serve as receipts, support evidence, design references, or records.

Scan for screenshots

  1. Open Files → Screenshots Manager.
  2. Select or authorize the location to scan.
  3. Wait for the result.
  4. Review previews, dates, dimensions, names, and paths.

Preserve useful captures

Move screenshots into a project or records folder when their context matters. Rename them so the subject and date remain understandable.

Redact or securely manage images containing credentials, private messages, financial information, customer data, or personal identifiers.

Remove temporary captures

Confirm that the information has been transferred to its destination and is not needed for an unresolved support case. Select small batches and verify the remaining folder.

Missing screenshots

macOS can save captures to a custom location, clipboard, cloud folder, or another application. Confirm the configured Screenshot destination and scan that folder.

Files converted, renamed, or stripped of expected metadata may not be identified in the same way.
