Reopen the crashed application first and use its recovery interface. Save restored documents to a normal folder.
Preserve recent crash reports, logs, autosave, and recovery data until the cause is understood or support no longer needs them.
After recovery:
- Quit the application.
- Run a focused Junk Files scan.
- Review recent temporary files carefully.
- Remove only abandoned data from the completed incident.
If temporary or log data grows again immediately, update and troubleshoot the application rather than repeatedly cleaning its evidence.
After an application update
Open the updated application and test documents, plug-ins, accounts, and important workflows before deleting rollback resources.
When the update is stable, review old disk images, packages, and supported generated update data. Keep an installer if it is needed for offline recovery or a licensed legacy version.
Do not remove current logs while diagnosing an update failure. Run a new application inventory so current version and path information replaces stale pre-update results.
