Leftovers searches supported application-related locations for data whose associated app no longer appears installed.

Run the scan

  1. Connect volumes that contain installed applications.
  2. Grant Home-folder access.
  3. Open Applications → Leftovers.
  4. Start the scan.
  5. Review each proposed app identity and path.

Avoid false assumptions

A result may still be used by:

  • Another app from the same developer.
  • A newly installed replacement.
  • A plug-in or command-line tool.
  • A project that stores assets in Application Support.
  • An app on a disconnected disk.

Reconnect app volumes and preserve shared or user-created data.

Remove a leftover

Close related applications, select only verified remnants, and confirm. Protected containers may require Full Disk Access.

Scan after an uninstall

Wait until the uninstall or update finishes. Running Leftovers while an application bundle is temporarily replaced can misclassify active data.

If leftovers return

A remaining helper, updater, synchronized setting, or reinstalled app may recreate them. Identify the writer before repeatedly removing the same path.
