VoiceInk
VoiceInk is a macOS dictation app that turns spoken words into text across apps and helps users write notes, messages, and other content by voice.
What is VoiceInk?
VoiceInk is a native macOS dictation app for turning speech into text in everyday writing workflows. It is designed for people who want to write by voice in other apps, such as email clients, note tools, chat apps, and browsers, without switching to a separate transcription workflow. The app focuses on fast voice input, customizable dictation modes, and personal vocabulary so names, product terms, and repeated phrases can be handled more reliably. VoiceInk also offers transcript history, shortcuts for quick recording, and options for local on-device transcription as well as cloud-based AI services with user-provided API keys. For Mac users who want hands-free or faster text entry, it fits best as a productivity tool for drafting, capturing ideas, and reworking spoken thoughts into cleaner written text.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
VoiceInk’s microphone access is normal for a dictation app, and local transcription can reduce how much audio leaves your Mac. If you enable cloud transcription or AI features, the spoken content you send may be processed by the providers you choose, so avoid dictating sensitive material unless you are comfortable with those services and settings. Removing the app will stop its dictation features, and deleting its support files may clear saved history, custom words, and preferences.
Recommendation: Keep VoiceInk if you use voice dictation on your Mac or want faster text entry across apps. If you no longer use it, you can remove the app and then delete its leftover data to free space, knowing that saved transcripts, custom vocabulary, and app settings may be lost.
