What is Velo?

Velo is a desktop email client for macOS, Windows, and Linux that helps people handle email efficiently across multiple accounts. It is built for users who spend a lot of time in their inbox and want fast navigation, powerful search, and inbox organization tools in a native desktop workflow. Velo supports major providers such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, Fastmail, and standard IMAP servers, letting you bring different accounts into one app. The app includes keyboard shortcuts, a command palette, filters and rules, snoozing, scheduled sending, and bulk actions to speed up everyday email work. It also offers optional AI features such as summaries, smart replies, and categorization that can work with your own provider key, alongside local storage and privacy-focused design choices. Velomail publishes Velo as an open-source email app aimed at people who want a full-featured inbox without relying on a separate cloud service.

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

Velo is legitimate email software, but like any mail client it may need access to your email accounts, message contents, contacts, attachments, and notifications to work properly. Those requests are normal for an email app. If you use its optional AI features, review which provider you connect and what information you choose to send through that service. Removing the app can disconnect your desktop workflow and may leave local mail data or settings behind until you delete them separately.

Recommendation: Keep Velo if you use it for daily email or multi-account inbox management. If you no longer use it, you can remove the app, and you may also clean up its leftover support files later if you want to recover space or reset its local data.
