Twine
Twine is an open-source desktop app for creating interactive fiction and nonlinear stories that publish as HTML for web play.
What is Twine?
Twine is a story-authoring app for creating interactive fiction, branching narratives, and other nonlinear text experiences. It is widely used by writers, educators, game creators, and hobbyists who want to build choice-based stories without needing a full game engine. On Mac, the desktop app lets you draft passages, connect story structure visually, and publish finished projects as HTML files that run in a web browser. Twine also supports multiple story formats, giving authors different approaches to presentation and scripting depending on the kind of project they want to make. Because it exports to standard web technology, it fits well into classroom projects, narrative design workflows, prototypes, and personal creative work. Twine is maintained under the Twine project, a registered trademark of the Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation.

Safety overview
Status: Safe
Twine is legitimate creative writing software. It normally needs access only to the files you choose to open, save, import, or export, and that level of file access is expected for a desktop authoring tool. Removing the app will not remove story files you saved elsewhere, but you may lose app-specific settings or local working data stored in your Library folder. Keep backups of any active projects before uninstalling or cleaning related support files.
Recommendation: Keep Twine if you create or edit interactive stories on this Mac. If you no longer use it, you can remove the app, but export or back up any projects you want to keep first.
