What is TokenScope?

TokenScope is a native macOS utility from Nerdsnipe that helps Claude Code users understand how their local coding sessions consume tokens over time. It reads Claude Code session data already stored on your Mac and presents aggregate usage, estimated cost, per-project breakdowns, and session history in a desktop app. Users can browse conversations, review agent activity, inspect tool-call frequency, and explore memory files associated with Claude Code projects. The app is designed for developers, indie hackers, and other heavy Claude Code users who want a clearer view of spend and workflow patterns across projects. TokenScope runs locally after setup and focuses on analysis of existing local data rather than cloud syncing or team collaboration.

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

TokenScope's behavior is consistent with its purpose: it asks for access to Claude Code data stored on your Mac so it can analyze sessions, tokens, tool calls, and project memory. Its published privacy description says the app works locally after setup and does not upload the Claude Code files it reads. As with any app that can read project-related session history and memory notes, use it only if you are comfortable granting access to that data.

Recommendation: Keep TokenScope if you want local visibility into Claude Code usage, costs, and project activity. If you do not use Claude Code or no longer need usage analysis, you can remove the app with little impact beyond losing this dashboard and any app-specific settings.
