What is TeXmacs?

TeXmacs is a desktop scientific editing and typesetting application for writing technical documents, especially material that includes mathematics. It helps students, researchers, teachers, and other technical users create structured documents with a visual editor instead of editing raw markup. Common uses include lecture notes, articles, books, reports, and other documents where formulas, symbols, and layout matter. TeXmacs also supports style-driven document formatting, export and conversion workflows, and integrations used in mathematical and academic writing. On Mac, it is distributed as a native application and is also available for other major desktop platforms. TeXmacs is published through the GNU TeXmacs project.
