What is Telegram?

Telegram is the macOS desktop client for the Telegram messaging platform, published here as keepcoder. People use it to send messages, join groups and channels, share files, make calls, and access synced chats from their Telegram account on a Mac.

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

This is generally a legitimate user-installed communication app. It can contain locally cached media, account data, downloads, and notification-related settings, so removing its data may sign you out or clear offline content.

Recommendation: Keep it if you use Telegram on this Mac. If you no longer use it, it is usually reasonable to remove the app and its leftover user data after confirming you do not need local downloads, cached media, or saved session data.
