What is Tahoma2D?

Tahoma2D is a 2D and stop motion animation app for macOS that helps artists create frame-by-frame scenes, cut-out animation, and camera-based stop motion work in one desktop workspace. It is designed for animators, students, hobbyists, and small studios that want a dedicated production tool rather than a general-purpose drawing app. Tahoma2D includes drawing and painting tools, palette and style management, project and scene organization, compositing effects, and timeline or xsheet-based workflows. Its documentation also covers cleanup, project setup, camera settings, animation levels, and export-oriented workflows that support traditional and paperless production. The app is part of the Tahoma2D project and is distributed outside the Mac App Store as a downloadable macOS app.

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

Tahoma2D is legitimate animation software for macOS. Because it is distributed outside the Mac App Store and not through the Apple Developer program, macOS may show security warnings the first time you open it. Access requests to folders are normal for saving projects, importing media, and exporting work. Use the official project site for downloads, and only grant access to the files and folders you want the app to use.

Recommendation: Keep Tahoma2D if you use it for animation or stop motion work. If you no longer use it, you can remove the app and its related support files to free space, but doing so may also remove your preferences, custom assets, and project-related settings stored for the app.
