Syntax Look works as a Quick Look extension for Finder, so it reads the file you choose to preview and renders the result locally on your Mac. That access is normal for its purpose. It does not need an account to function, and its main effect is limited to improving file previews for supported code and text formats. If you stop using it, removing the app simply removes that enhanced preview experience from Finder.
Recommendation: Keep Syntax Look if you regularly inspect code or configuration files in Finder and want faster previews without launching an editor. Remove it if you no longer use its Quick Look previews; Finder will return to its standard behavior for those files.
