Sortio

What is Sortio?

Sortio is a native Mac productivity app for organizing files with natural-language instructions and rule-based workflows. It helps users sort documents, photos, and mixed folders into clearer structures without manually dragging items one by one. Users can choose a folder, describe how they want files arranged, and let the app rename and move items based on file type, content, or saved templates. It also offers offline use, undo history, and automation features for recurring organization tasks. Sortio is published by Marcus Graves and is aimed at people who want a faster way to clean up downloads, archives, work files, and personal folders on macOS.

Key features

• Sort files with plain-language prompts
• Rename files automatically based on content or rules
• Build repeatable sorting rules for common workflows
• Save templates for organization tasks you use often
• Review changes and undo previous sorting actions
• Run in an offline mode for local file organization

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

Sortio works by reading and reorganizing files you choose, so file access is a normal part of using it. Because it can rename and move documents, photos, and other items, it is best used on folders you intend to organize and on files that are backed up if they are important. Features such as undo history and preview-style workflows help reduce mistakes during cleanup and filing.

Recommendation: Keep Sortio if you actively use it to organize folders or automate file cleanup on your Mac. If you no longer use it, you can remove it like other apps, but review any folders or saved workflows you still rely on before uninstalling.
