SnapMotion
SnapMotion is a macOS app for capturing still images from video files and exporting frames in common image formats.
What is SnapMotion?
SnapMotion is a photo and video utility for macOS that helps users extract still frames from video files instead of relying on ordinary screenshots. It is designed for people who need clean image captures from clips, such as content creators, designers, teachers, and anyone preparing thumbnails, references, or visual documentation. The app can open videos from common Mac workflows, including Finder and Photos, and lets users move through footage to save the exact frame they want. It also supports batch extraction when many images are needed from one video, along with export options for common image formats. SnapMotion is published by NeededApps and is also offered through Setapp, making it useful for Mac users who want a focused frame-grabbing tool in a desktop workflow.

Safety overview
Status: Safe
SnapMotion is a legitimate desktop app for working with video files and saving image captures. Access to your videos and chosen save locations is normal for this kind of tool. If you open media from your Photos library, it will only need the level of access required to read those items for capture. Keep it if you use it for frame extraction or thumbnail work, and remove it if you no longer need that workflow.
Recommendation: Keep SnapMotion if you regularly capture frames from videos or use it through Setapp. If you no longer use it, you can remove it without affecting macOS, though you may lose saved app settings and any convenience it adds to your video-to-image workflow.
