What is Sdrive?

Seagate Sdrive is a remote-access storage app for Mac that connects compatible Seagate NAS OS devices and Seagate Personal Cloud systems to your computer. It is designed for people who want their network storage to show up like a normal drive in Finder so they can browse, open, copy, and manage files without using a web interface for everyday work. Sdrive also supports sharing access with other users through Seagate’s remote access system and can help owners reach device management tools from a computer. Typical use cases include reaching office or home NAS files while away from the local network, moving documents between a Mac and supported Seagate storage, and giving colleagues or clients access to shared folders. Seagate Technologies LLC published the app as part of its network-storage and personal-cloud workflow.

Key features

  • Mount compatible Seagate NAS or Personal Cloud storage as a drive on your Mac

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

Sdrive is legitimate Seagate software for remote access to supported network storage and personal cloud devices. It normally needs network access and access to the files you choose to open or copy so it can present remote storage on your Mac. Removing it does not harm macOS, but you may lose convenient remote-drive access to your Seagate storage and related sharing workflows. Seagate notes that Sdrive was not updated for macOS 15 Sequoia, so compatibility on newer Macs may be limited.

Recommendation: Keep Sdrive if you still use a compatible Seagate NAS or Personal Cloud device and want desktop-style remote file access. If you no longer use that storage, or the app no longer works on your current macOS version, you can remove it and rely on other supported access methods for your files.
