SABnzbd
SABnzbd is a macOS Usenet download app that fetches NZB downloads, repairs and extracts them, and lets you manage jobs in a browser.
What is SABnzbd?
SABnzbd is a Usenet download application for macOS that helps people download content from NZB files and manage the entire queue from a web browser. It is designed for users who rely on Usenet and want a desktop-hosted tool that can run continuously, organize downloads, and automate common post-processing steps. SABnzbd can verify and repair downloads with PAR2, unpack archives automatically, sort completed files, and handle watched folders or RSS-based workflows. Its responsive web interface works across desktop and mobile browsers, which is useful when the app is running on a Mac, another computer, or a NAS on the same network. Advanced users often connect it with automation tools such as Sonarr or Radarr, while individual users can simply use it as a standalone NZB downloader. SABnzbd is published as open source software by Jiri van Bergen.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
SABnzbd is legitimate download software, but it commonly runs as a local web service and can keep working in the background while managing downloads. That behavior is normal for its purpose. Because it can expose a browser-based control panel and access folders you choose for downloads, use strong settings, keep it updated, and avoid opening it to the internet unless you understand the network and HTTPS options you enable.
Recommendation: Keep SABnzbd if you actively use Usenet or have other tools sending jobs to it. If you no longer use it, removing it is usually fine, but any automated download workflows that depend on it will stop until you reinstall or replace it.
