The app includes per-game configuration options, controller support, graphics and performance tuning, and tools for tracking compatibility before you spend time setting up a title. It also provides debugging features that are useful for advanced users testing software behavior. RPCS3 is published by the RPCS3 project and is also available on Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD, making it a common choice for cross-platform emulation workflows.

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

RPCS3 is legitimate emulator software, but it may request access to folders where you store game files, firmware, save data, screenshots, and logs. Those requests are normal for its purpose. Because emulator setup can involve large downloads and files from outside the Mac App Store, use the official project site and keep game and firmware files from lawful, trusted sources. Removing the app will also remove easy access to its settings and local emulator data unless you keep those files separately.

Recommendation: Keep RPCS3 if you use it for PS3 emulation, testing, or save data management on your Mac. Remove it if you no longer use it and do not need its local emulator settings, cached shader data, or game library information.
