What is Particulars?
Particulars is a macOS system information utility from Glencode that helps users view key details about a Mac at a glance. It can show hardware, operating system, storage, uptime, user, and network information directly on the desktop without replacing the wallpaper, and it also supports a menu bar view for quick access. Common uses include identifying Macs in labs or offices, checking network status, copying system details for support requests, and keeping reference information visible while you work. The app offers configurable detail levels, display position and theme options, and clipboard copying for the information it shows. Particulars also integrates with Shortcuts, and a separate command-line companion is available for workflows that need exported system information.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
Particulars is a legitimate Mac utility for showing system information, and the access it uses is consistent with that purpose. It may run at login, stay available in the menu bar, and make limited network requests to refresh items such as public IP information or hardware naming details. Those behaviors are normal for a live system information tool. If you do not want it visible all the time, you can turn off launch at login or desktop display in its settings.
Recommendation: Keep Particulars if you use it to monitor or quickly reference Mac details on your desktop or menu bar. If you no longer need constant system information, you can remove it without affecting macOS, though you will lose its live display, quick copy features, and related automation options.
