OpenBoard
OpenBoard is an open-source interactive whiteboard app for macOS that helps teachers create, present, and annotate classroom lessons.
What is OpenBoard?
OpenBoard is an interactive whiteboard application for teaching and classroom presentation on macOS, Windows, and Linux. It is designed mainly for schools and universities, where teachers use it with interactive whiteboards, touch displays, projectors, or a dual-screen setup. The app lets users build lesson pages, write or draw directly on the board, and combine annotations with text, images, video, audio, and other learning materials. It also includes tools for presenting content live in class, organizing reusable resources, and annotating over the desktop outside the main whiteboard canvas. Because it is open source, OpenBoard is also used in education environments that want a flexible classroom tool without relying on a commercial platform. DIP - Etat de Geneve maintains the project.

Safety overview
Status: Safe
OpenBoard is a legitimate education app used for classroom presentation and annotation. Access to files, display content, or input devices can be normal for its teaching features, especially when importing lesson materials or annotating on screen. It is not known as unwanted software. As with any classroom tool, keep only the permissions you actually use and store teaching documents in your usual backup location.
Recommendation: Keep OpenBoard if you use your Mac for teaching, presenting, or whiteboard-style lesson preparation. Remove it only if you no longer need interactive classroom annotation features or have switched to another teaching tool.
