Moon Calendar for menu bar

What is Moon Calendar for menu bar?

Moon Calendar for menu bar is a native Mac utility that places lunar information directly in the menu bar for quick daily reference. It helps users check the current moon phase, browse a moon phase calendar by date, and view related timing details without opening a separate website or full desktop app. The app is useful for casual skywatchers and anyone who wants sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset information in a lightweight format. It also supports location-based viewing, so users can check lunar details for different places and switch between saved locations. Rivolu publishes the app for macOS as a focused menu bar tool rather than a broad weather dashboard, making it best suited to people who want fast access to moon data throughout the day.

Key features

• View the current moon phase from the menu bar
• Browse a lunar calendar for any month
• Check moonrise and moonset times for selected locations
• See sunrise and sunset times for a chosen day
• Look up the exact timing of full moon and new moon events
• Save multiple locations and switch between them

Safety overview

Status: Safe

This is a standard menu bar utility for macOS. Access to location information is normal if you want local sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset times, and removing the app simply removes those menu bar features. As with any location-aware app, use only the permissions you are comfortable granting and review location access in macOS settings if needed.

Recommendation: Keep it if you regularly check moon phases or daily sun and moon times from your Mac menu bar. If you do not use those features, you can remove it without affecting macOS beyond losing the app's lunar calendar and menu bar display.
