Mister Plimsoll
Mister Plimsoll is a macOS menu bar utility that monitors drive space and alerts you before a startup disk, external drive, or backup volume gets too full.
What is Mister Plimsoll?
Mister Plimsoll is a disk space monitoring utility for macOS that helps you keep track of how full your drives are before storage problems interrupt your work. Developed by Glenn Fleishman, it runs from the menu bar and watches the volumes you choose, including your startup disk, external drives, and Time Machine destinations. You can set separate fullness thresholds for each volume so different disks can trigger warnings at different levels. When a drive crosses its limit, the app can notify you with macOS notifications, an on-screen alert, email, Pushover, or a webhook. It is designed for people who want lightweight storage monitoring without a full disk analysis workflow, especially users who manage several disks or want advance warning before a backup or work drive runs out of room. The Mac App Store edition is a native Mac app and focuses on monitoring and alerts rather than cleanup tools.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
Mister Plimsoll is a legitimate storage-monitoring utility for Mac. Its normal behavior is to read drive-capacity information for the volumes you choose and send alerts through the notification methods you configure. If you enable email, webhook, or push notifications, the app will use the account details or endpoints you provide for those alerts, so enter only destinations you trust and review any credentials you save for notification features. Removing the app stops future storage alerts but does not affect your files directly.
Recommendation: Keep Mister Plimsoll if you want advance warnings when a Mac drive or backup volume is getting too full. If you do not use storage alerts or prefer another monitoring tool, you can remove it; the main effect is that you will no longer receive its drive-space notifications.
