Microsoft Edge is a mainstream browser from Microsoft and its normal network activity, sign-in options, update checks, and web content permissions are consistent with a browser. Because browsers handle passwords, downloads, cookies, and a large amount of personal browsing data, you should review sign-in and sync settings, extension permissions, default browser prompts, and website access to the camera, microphone, location, and notifications. If Microsoft AutoUpdate is installed, background update activity is also expected.
Recommendation: Keep Microsoft Edge if you use it for browsing, web apps, work profiles, or syncing with other devices. If you do not use it, you can remove it like other Mac apps, but doing so will also remove access to saved local browser data unless it is synced to an account.
