What is Marklet?

Marklet is a native Markdown editor for macOS designed for people who write in plain .md files and want the document itself to stay readable while they edit. It helps users draft notes, technical writing, documentation, and other Markdown-based content without switching between a source pane and a separate preview. As you type, headings, bold text, links, tables, images, math expressions, and code are rendered directly in the document, while the underlying file remains standard Markdown. Marklet also offers multiple editing views, including live formatting, direct source editing, and reading-focused modes, so users can choose the workflow that fits their writing style. Because documents remain ordinary Markdown files, it fits well into file-based Mac workflows and can be used alongside other editors, sync tools, or version-controlled projects. The app is published by Youli Hui.

Safety overview

Status: Safe

Marklet is a normal writing tool for local Markdown files. Access to files you open is expected for its purpose, and keeping documents as plain Markdown can make it easier to move your work between apps. Use normal care with any editor when opening sensitive documents, and keep backups of important writing before large edits.

Recommendation: Keep Marklet if you use Markdown on your Mac or want a focused native editor for plain text writing. If you no longer use it, removing the app is usually fine, but keep any Markdown documents you created or stored separately.
