Mac Duo
Mac Duo is a macOS utility that animates your MacBook desktop as you close the lid, keeping the image visually aligned during the motion.
What is Mac Duo?
Mac Duo is a native macOS utility for MacBook users who want a visual fold-style effect while closing the lid. It captures the desktop only during the lid movement and renders perspective, blur, dimming, and related effects so the screen appears to stay in place as the glass moves. The app is controlled from the menu bar and offers multiple visual styles plus adjustable settings for how the effect looks. It is intended for Macs with a compatible lid angle sensor and supports recent versions of macOS. Mac Duo is best suited to people who enjoy interface customization, visual demos, and experimental desktop effects rather than productivity-focused workflows.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
Mac Duo asks for Screen Recording permission so it can read the desktop while the lid is moving, which is normal for this kind of visual effect. The app’s effect is local to the Mac and is meant for supported MacBook models rather than external displays. Because it changes how your screen behaves during lid movement, it is best used only if you want this effect and are comfortable granting screen access for that purpose.
Recommendation: Keep Mac Duo if you use and enjoy its lid-closing visual effect. If you installed it only to try it out, you can remove it without affecting normal macOS use beyond losing the animation and its settings.
