JEDict
JEDict is a Japanese-English dictionary app for Mac that helps users look up words and kanji, study readings, and explore stroke order.
What is JEDict?
JEDict is a Mac dictionary app for Japanese language lookup and study. It helps learners, readers, and translators search for Japanese words and kanji by reading, English meaning, and character components. The app supports handwritten kanji recognition, kanji lookup by graphemes, stroke order display, and word-by-word translation features that are useful when reading unfamiliar text. JEDict also works with multiple Japanese dictionary formats, including EDICT, JMDICT, Wadoku, EPWING, and Stardict sources. On Mac, it is aimed at users who want a dedicated reference tool for Japanese vocabulary and kanji study rather than a general web dictionary in a browser. JEDict is published on its official site and in Apple’s App Store, with the Mac version available for macOS 11.0 or later.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
JEDict is a legitimate dictionary and study app. Access to files or images is normal when you use OCR or import dictionary data, and any saved study or dictionary files may remain on your Mac after uninstalling the app. If you use its text, image, or speech-related features, review only the permissions you plan to use and remove any imported dictionaries you no longer need.
Recommendation: Keep JEDict if you use your Mac for Japanese reading, lookup, or kanji study. If you no longer use it, you can remove the app, but exported or imported dictionaries and other local data may need separate cleanup if you want to free additional space.
