iPhoto
iPhoto is Apple’s discontinued photo management app for Mac, built to import, organize, edit, and share personal photo libraries.
What is iPhoto?
iPhoto is a native Mac photo management application from Apple that was designed to help users import pictures from cameras, organize large photo libraries, make quick edits, and share or print images. It was widely used as part of iLife for everyday home photo workflows, including creating albums, slideshows, books, cards, and calendars. iPhoto also included tools for browsing photos by events, faces, and places, which made it easier to sort growing collections over time. The app focused on consumer photo organization rather than professional image editing, giving Mac users a simpler way to manage family, travel, and event photos. iPhoto has been discontinued and was later succeeded by Photos on macOS, but some users still encounter it on older Macs or while migrating older photo libraries.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
iPhoto is legitimate Apple software, but it is old and no longer actively developed. It can still contain important photo libraries and project data such as albums, books, and slideshows. If you still use an older Mac or have legacy photo collections, take care not to remove the app or its library files until your pictures have been migrated or backed up.
Recommendation: Keep iPhoto if you still open old photo libraries or need it for legacy projects on an older Mac. If you no longer use it and your photos have already been moved to Photos or backed up elsewhere, removing the app is usually reasonable.
