HoudahGPS

What is HoudahGPS?

HoudahGPS is a native Mac utility that helps users download GPS track logs from supported GPS devices and convert track log files into common formats. It is designed for people who work with route recordings, waypoint data, and location history, especially photographers and outdoor users who want GPS data ready for other tools. The app can transfer logs from a range of GPS devices and export data to formats such as GPX, NMEA, and KML for use in mapping and geotagging workflows. A common use case is preparing track logs for viewing in Google Earth or for use with photo geotagging software such as HoudahGeo. HoudahGPS is published by Houdah Software s.a r.l. and offered for macOS as a focused GPS conversion and transfer tool.

Key features

• Download GPS track logs from compatible GPS devices
• Convert track log files to GPX, NMEA, and KML formats
• Prepare GPS data for photo geotagging workflows
• Export location tracks for viewing in Google Earth
• Archive route recordings in a standard GPX format

Safety overview

Status: Safe

HoudahGPS is a legitimate Mac utility for working with GPS track data. Access to connected GPS devices and the track files you choose to import or export is normal for this kind of app. Removing it should only affect your ability to download or convert GPS logs with HoudahGPS, and it should not be necessary for general macOS operation.

Recommendation: Keep HoudahGPS if you still download track logs from GPS devices or convert route data for mapping and geotagging. If you no longer use those workflows, you can remove it without affecting unrelated apps, though you may lose convenient access to past GPS conversion tasks until you reinstall it.
