Gestimer

What is Gestimer?

Gestimer is a native Mac productivity app for setting quick timers and short reminders from the menu bar. It is designed for people who want to capture a reminder without breaking focus, especially during work, study, or other time-sensitive tasks. Instead of opening a larger task manager or calendar app, you drag from the menu bar icon to choose a duration and then add a short title if needed. Gestimer can show a countdown in the menu bar, send notifications when a timer ends, and support multiple active timers or reminders at once. It also integrates with Apple Reminders for users who want their reminders to stay in sync with Apple’s ecosystem. Published by Maddin, Gestimer is best suited to lightweight day-to-day timing and reminder workflows on macOS.

Key features

• Create timers and reminders with a drag gesture from the menu bar
• Add short titles to reminders so each timer has context
• Show a live countdown in the menu bar
• Run multiple timers and reminders at the same time
• Send notifications when a timer or reminder is due
• Sync reminders with Apple Reminders
• Snooze reminders when you need a little more time

Safety overview

Status: Safe

Gestimer is a legitimate reminder and timer app for macOS. Notification access and, if you use syncing, permission for Apple Reminders are normal for its purpose. It may also be set to open at login so it is ready from the menu bar, which is standard behavior for this kind of utility. If you no longer use it, removing the app will stop its timers, reminders, and related local settings.

Recommendation: Keep Gestimer if you use quick menu bar timers or short reminders during the day. If you do not use it, you can remove it without affecting macOS, though any app-specific reminders, preferences, or convenience features from the app will no longer be available.
