Its network activity is consistent with that purpose: it requests video and channel data either directly from YouTube or through an Invidious instance, depending on your settings. Local viewing data and subscriptions are stored on your device, but your IP address can still be exposed to YouTube when the local API is used, or to the selected Invidious server when that mode is enabled. Review any proxy, external player, and link-opening settings if you want tighter privacy control.
Recommendation: Keep FreeTube if you use it to watch YouTube with local subscriptions and privacy-focused settings. If you do not use it, removing it should only affect FreeTube itself, including its saved subscriptions, history, and app preferences unless you back them up first.
