What is EOS Network Setting Tool?
EOS Network Setting Tool is a Canon utility for macOS that helps users configure network settings used by compatible EOS cameras and related desktop workflows. It is distributed as part of EOS Utility rather than as a separate standalone consumer app. Users may encounter it when setting up camera communication over a network, including workflows that use FTP, FTPS, or SFTP connection testing. In practice, it supports photographers and camera users who need to prepare wireless or network-based transfer settings from a Mac. It fits into Canon’s broader EOS Utility environment for connecting cameras and managing communication with a computer.

Safety overview
Status: Use with caution
This is legitimate Canon software, but Canon published a security advisory on June 15, 2026 for EOS Network Setting Tool version 1.5.0 or earlier on macOS and Windows. The advisory says vulnerabilities could expose authentication information used by the FTP, FTPS, or SFTP communication test function. If you use this tool, keep EOS Utility updated and avoid storing or testing sensitive server credentials in older versions.
Recommendation: Keep it if you use Canon EOS camera network setup features on your Mac. If you do not use Canon camera networking or EOS Utility, you can remove it with the associated Canon software. If it is installed, update EOS Utility so the included EOS Network Setting Tool is version 1.5.1 or later.
